Hi guys

I'm sure I've read on here that someone replaced their fibreglass tent poles with aluminium and or titanium ones to get the weight of their tent down.

Does anyone remember where this was or at least can they point me in the right direction?

Looking to bring the weight of the tent down and to bring it on the bike for a little bit of touring- 2 man Blacks tent

Was £90 in the shops down to £20 odd when I walked in and picked it up a month or two ago.

the fibreglass poles are 66cm in length - is it possible to get the same overall length of pole when set up but with smaller overall width when folded (to about 50cm max)?

Maybe this isn't possible but worth a punt for you wise bunch out there...

Hi Rowan_46

I noticed that the alloy poles are 8.5 and the current dimensions of the fibreglass poles are 7.9 - it's not a vast differences but have you had any issues with pushing the tent through the alloy poles due to increased width?

Edit>
Negligible differences! The question under the alloy poles link was definite it needed the fibreglass but I'll get a pack and it should be fine.

Thanks again

the alloy poles may not be bendy enough a 7.9mm durawrap is a lot bendier than an alloy pole on a longer run it doesn't make much difference but those are short poles so it may not be possible to use alloy.
