It's a lot of cost for what is, tbh, a very basic bike.

The simplest upgrade is new wheels. That'd make a big difference however if you've got a 7 speed freewheel the choice is more limited.

Is it 14 or 16 speed? 16 speed means a cassette and a wider choice of wheels.

Group set plus basic wheels, about £360, plus the cost of the LBS to fit it all.
I wouldn't bother with that bike, look for something like a second hand Spesh Allez

This^

See what you could get for the TDF and then look around for something better like;

Only one size but a great bike for £400 http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m7b0s6p5468/CANNONDALE-CAAD8-CLARIS-2014

Or the old favourite:smile: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-5...FKdgV55An6FvPoyKmi2Zo40KsM-XBirXJ4aAs8l8P8HAQ

Absolutely not worth the cost and effort. If you want to keep the bike, upgrade the wheels and tyres only.

Better to invest in a better bike as already suggested, there are some good deals about now.
