The Mrs has asked what i would like for Christmas & I thought i'd chance my arm and ask for some new wheels to replace the stock wheels on my Secteur comp.
I've seen some Fulcrum racing 5 & Shimano RS30 which i like the look of. Would any of these be a good upgrade? Or should i be looking to spend a bit more and go for something like these Easton Wheels or these Ultegra wheels ? Any other recommendations?

Before you buy - try looking up replacement spokes for the various wheels as it can be a nightmare! I like Campag/Fulcrum wheels for this reason as they do a nice little kit such as this.

Otherwise - the more you pay the better the kit but after £300 or so the increase in performance does start to tail off.

(i should add that most spokes are perfectly ok but 4 years down the road you may experience a breakage or two)

I like them, nice price too, but would a wheel which should cost £500 be a bit over kill on my Secteur?

if you like your bike and can afford the wheels get them . who cares if anyone thinks its a bit of an over kill .its still cheaper than buying a new bike .if its the best deal i would get them .

For £275 I think these are a total bargain, If I hadnt just picked up a set of Shimano RS80's for £315.00 I would be ordering them now. Wheels have an enormous effect on the feel of a bike but are generally where money is saved by the manufacturers. They have far more impact than the brakes or drivetrain.
