I want to update my Garmin 200 to a 500 or 510 and I have seen these.
500 normal..
500 with HR and cadence.
510 with HR and candence I think..
For those who have used them have you got any views on which is better.

Handtec are offering these.
500 @ £130, with HR and cadence @ £162 and the 510 @ £202 all seem a good price?

Cheers

Good deals on 500's at the moment. You need to work out if and why you would want or need cadence/hrm.
I can count my cadence, and now know if i'm in too big a gear. As for my heart - tis always pumping hard when bike and I meet a hill ;)

And thats why i stick with the 200 to record my routes and rides

Just got mine from Handtec, nice quick delivery and best prices!
I got the 500 with HR and will add the speed/cadence sensor when the pennies build back up, BTW its a great bit of kit you wont be disappointed

Beware of the well known flaw with the 500's.
If you use routes and/or courses. A lot of them do lock up and freeze whilst using route/courses over 40/50miles.
It seem's to be pot luck if you get one which works or not.

Are these pre planned route's that you log in before you start your ride?

800 shouldn't have any issues. Look at the memory card or maps as a last resort. I haven't had any issues

Might not be a problem for me then as I dont pre plan any ride, but I will google the Garmin site for more info.

Cheers

No won't be a problem if you are using the 500 just to log rides.
However, as I said, it's hit or miss as to whether you have one that will work or not with courses.

When i connect my 200 to the Garmin website it states there is a software update from 2.0 to 2.1 or something ? However when i click the "start update" my 200 isnt listed as needing an update.

Anyone else had this ?

Nope, but I am a strong believer of 'if it ain't broke'.....The Garmin site should list what's included in the update to help you decide if you really need to upgrade the software or not.

Fairy nuff. Im guessing as my device isnt listed it must just be a standard flashy ad thing.
