Unknown Part...help please

Hi all,

Just taken my bottom bracket apart (thanks for all the help on here to get to that point) it was a cartridge as well but cleaned everything out so fingers crossed.

However after taking the pedals off i remember seeing this small part and was wondering what it was for. Ive put everything back together now but a bit worried ive missed this part. Any help would be great.
P.S only 1 of them i have.

Was it a square taper BB? If so then i think it may have come off your crank removal tool.

Thanks so much, your totally correct. It turned out to be end of my crank removal tool and somehow ended up in the pedals.
Now i can cycle without the worry of a missing part.
