I will ask him to do that , the only comment he has made so far is that some of the bits as he called them have japan stamped on them. I suggested he look for a bit more detail than that

It looks very like a Dawes I owned, its only the forks that are wrong.

So far the only hard facts he has come back with is that the front and rear mech's and the brake callipers are marked Shimano .

The frame does have a Raleigh look to it, as do the fork crowns. My guess, and it is just a guess, it's that it's a Raleigh frame jazzed up BITD with non spec parts.
