Unclipping

When I go to unclip my left foot my heal has to travel before it unclips, not so with the right foot, what could be the problem, it's the SP M520 I think, £20 of fleabay.........

Different tension on each of the pedals or a worn out cleat.

Thanks Ian, new shoes, so I'll play about with the tension screw, the pedals are old and a bit battered. (like myself)

Could also be because one cleat is not pointing straight ahead relative to the slots in the sole of the shoe. In my experience the PD-M520s have a lot of float in both directions when the cleats are pointing straight ahead relative to the slots.

Edit: Just realised you said the pedals are old and battered. If you always unclip the same foot when you stop could this be the cause due to unequal wear during unclipping?
