I wanted to fit a UN55 bottom bracket into the Peugeot Premier I am sorting out. Problem was that the non drive side cup would not screw right in, leaving about 5mm exposed which I considered a bit excessive. There were two apparent problems. The BB shell is only 66mm not the usual 68mm and the thread inside the shell didn't seem to go as deep as normal. Anyway, I stuck the cup in the lathe and trimmed off 2mm and it now fits a treat! I wonder if there something I haven't considered.
