I've always thought it would be amazing to cycle round the coast of Britain... not sure I'll ever get round to it though! What are your cycling ambitions/dreams? Cycling round the world?...

Starting in San Francisco, hit the PCH to Los Angeles. From Los Angeles head inland and hit the old route 66 east then on to Philadelphia then up to New York....so a US coast to coast for me.

+1 to Ian's dream - but the bike might have a motor. And I'd include Las Vegas to do the Hoover Dam and Mojave, then a couple of stops to visit friends in Phoenix and Tucson... yeah, ok, we can dream can't we.

A lap of Iceland could be fun and unusual. A tour in Norway / Sweden / Finland / Denmark would be more likely.

Coincidentally, I was talking with a colleague just yesterday and he mentioned that his neighbour is doing a lap of the UK this summer. He's planning on 6 weeks to do it as it's around 4k miles, depending on the route chosen, of course.

1 Cycle to Africa (ie France, Spain and quick trip to Morocco - quite achievable in a few weeks)
2 Cycle from home (Winchester) to the Med
3 LEJOG, but not hugely excited by this.
4 Trans USA
5 Canada to Mexico down the PCH
6 Home to Istanbul

That should keep me busy for a bit! Need to knock off my first Ironman this year before I can start dreaming about more tours!

For me, it'd have to be:

LEJOG - I love the idea of cycle touring, and I'd probably take a good few weeks to do it and see a lot of the country. I've been abroad more times than I can remember, I've never been to Scotland!

Round the world - I wanted to take a year out travelling once I finished college or university, but the way my life has changed since I made those plans, it's not possible. Still, I can dream, and take smaller trips to far flung places for a few weeks at a time, even without a bike.

My ultimate dream is to be able to ride at all!

I sit nursing a broken ankle.

Ive only been back in the saddle for four months after making good progress with my riding after major surgery. I was due to do my first sportive this weekend. I'm not looking forward to the upward struggle back to fitness that I've already undertaken once this year.

But i'll do it

And across Russia. Maybe start in Baltiysk and go all the way through Alaska and across to the Atlantic.

Good thread! My cycling dream is to tour south america - specifically i want to get down to patagonia as well as ride across the salars in south bolivia/northern chile. i suppose the biggest barriers are that i'm not one of these rugged expedition types and I'm asthmatic. it'll probably remain just a dream unless i get some serious time off work after having saved up enough cash to go with.

How about cycling to the South Pole. Some special modifications may be necessary though. Will need thermos of hot broth.

Really though I'd just like to go on a little camping tour with my bike. Unfortunately it is not something that interests my o.h. in the slightest so could be quite lonely.

I'd like to cycle the coast of Australia. Realistically a camping trip on the English coast would do, but like Cyclopathic above I'd be on me todd

LeJog, is the first one that comes to mind - Ever since I was a kid & watched some chap on the TV walk it, I've semi organised doing it several times accross 3 decades, but life has a funny way of throwing things in your way when you least expect them
I'm now working on a plan to do it next year with my bubbas, take the whole 6 weeks summer holiday & just wander our way round, local history & places of intrest to my boys.

For my 'older years' I have this idea that one day i'll buy a Winnebago, we'll load up our bikes & just go, round the world, parking up whenver we want, then riding round viewing the sights & culture
