Hi all, I've booked up for the 88 mile Ullapool Sportive, which, will be my first ever. I did the Pedal for Scotland event last year (I've done Glasgow to Edinburgh a few times on my own) so I was looking for a bigger challenge. I've looked for info on this forum but most of it seems to be on another longer route, I presume this was the old Ullapool Sportive or a different event. Anyway does anyone have any info on this 88 mile route? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Nice roads esp. from the summer isles turn off to lochinver. The 88 miler replaces the 130mile route and essentially extends the 65 miler by taking the loop north past Achmelvich and Clachtoll towards Kylesku before turning back towards ledmore junction. Another nice section

Thanks for the reply, I bow to your knowledge with you being local (almost).

Only 1 reply though, so is it the wrong question or is it in the wrong place?

One reply is not uncommon when the question is answered, and there are not too many on these fora, who live up here. I suspect many have done the sportives around Ullapool though.

Yes I am fairly local as it's only an hour away and I've been around those roads on a bike and in a car countless times, but never as part of a sportive. I've also climbed nearly every hill in the area too.

This is a new route to replace the Ullapool 130 miler which attracted fewer and fewer entries, which is a shame as the route was
amazing, if not a little bleak in bad weather.

Ullapool is a great town, and if you need more info just ask. J

The roads are in generally pretty good shape around there. There are a few beasting hills on that route too, but balanced by a few long downhills. I think that last 90 metre climb from Ardmair will not finish too soon ! Nice downhill into town though to finish. Collapse into the Ceileidh Place for post ride refreshments.
