What are the best puncture resistant tyres (700 x 23c). Have used gator skins but my bike got nicked shortly after getting them so didn't get to really test them out. They did feel a bit high resistance compared to thin walled tyres. What are your favourites folks?

Schwalbe Marathon Plus are about as P resistant as you can get - but they are heavy ( and without checking I don't recall whether they are available in a 23c - but I suspect not) for fast riding most people seem happy with Gatorskins - but the sidewalls are fairly weak, so some go for the Hardshells instead. I have read many reports that Vittoria Rubino Pro's are a good priced alternative. Always worth remembering that if you have very tight clearances some tyres have a slightly higher profile and may not fit.

I've used Gatorskins for years and have never had any issues with them TBH.

If I did then I'd switch to the other favourite of many, Conti 4 Seasons.

Whatever you go for check them for debris regularly and always make sure your pressures are right to give you the best chance of avoiding punctures.

I would imagine the Gatorskins will probably be faster rolling, but I have had good success with the Durano Plus. Got over 6000 miles out of the last set and only 1 visit right at the end when they were well worn and I chose to drive past a tractor cutting hedges.......poor tyres didn't stand a chance. Lol

I didn't get a single puncture using gatorskins last summer/autumn but they turned into ice skates as soon as it got colder and also I was finding the rears were squaring off badly. I won't be buying them again.
For grip, rolling resistance and puncture resistance I can recommend Schwalbe durano EXCEPT they cut up quite quickly, so look for a deal. Mine were £19 from Amazon.

I have had tried both specialized armadillo 23mm and specialized all condition elite 23mm and neither has let me down. I also bought last week some conti 4 season 25mm as I am riding Roubaix this April as the review are v good. Cost a fair bit mind. The spesh tyres are good value IMO and you can't go wrong unless you are riding cobbles that is!
