hi, just a quick question. we are doing the leeds-liverpool canal run in september and just wondered what type of tyre would be best suited for canal paths?

What size tire are you currently using?

I prefer a slightly wider tire on canal paths (but still slick), as the quality of the surface can vary. Something around 32mm is my preference, you may prefer wider (or be fine with narrower) tires depending on how confident you are on your bike, and the type of paving the tow path has.

im currently on 26 x 2.2 conti mountain kings.
would i be better off with something tilted toward road riding?

Yeah, personally I'd go with mostly slick road/hybrid style tires between 1.5 and 1.95. Not sure how good this particular tire is, but something with a similar tread to the Specialized Nimbus.

It's worth saying I'm basing this on the canal paths I've ridden. If your route is particularly rough, you may want to go for the wider end of the spectrum (1.95 ish).
