I've not been out on a wet road with my Triban 3 yet, purely on the fact that I don't trust the tyres not to slip away from under me.

What can I replace them with that won't break the bank as I'm currently unemployed?

Vittoria rubino 's in RED
great tyres and cheap

Yeah --- but in my experience the Rubinos are crap on damp roads.

I'd personally recommend ---
Michellin Lithions - probably the best all-round tyre at a reasonable price (~£17)
Bontrager Hardcase (~£22) if you want good puncture resistance.
Continental GP4000S (~£35) - best grip/handling slightly reduced wear rates and puncture protection.

My Commuter has Lithions all year round. The summer bike gets GP4000S. Mrs Kes has Bonty Hardcase.
Others will be along shortly to recommend every other tyre ever made

And by my experience of many thousands of miles over the years using Rubino's is that they are fine on wet roads.

+1 for Rubino's..got them on my Triban (I was sad and got the red ones to match...I like them!). Got them really cheap from Planet X less than £10 a tyre
