Hi,

I am wanting to 'man up' my hybrid (Ridgeback Motion I bought this year) a little for some of the trails in my local area and have a couple of questions;

1, TYRES. The bike came with 700x37c tyres. Currently has 38c tyres on. I would like something more rugged so was thinking 45c. Am I right in thinking that 28x1.75 would fit fine?

2, FORKS. What basic but good suspension forks would you recommend for a 700c V-brake bike? And what am I looking for with regards to all the other sizes given in the details?!

Thank you so much!

Funny old world. I have 700 X 45C on my hybrid and am about to go down to 32C slick on the back and 35c on the front. The 45C tires have only done about 100 miles or so and I have at least 2 further spare tubes as well. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll be swapping my suspension forks out too.

The tyres are kenda and the fork is suntour, both came with my hybrid purchased Feb 2012. Not high end stuff and not worth a great deal but a shame to waste since if I do swap them out I doubt I'll ever go back. I'm happy with the suntour shocks but I want lockout so I'm going for exactly the same thing but with lockout.

You may want to consider going to a bike shop/mechanic as they don't charge that much for installing forks (£20). They should be able to help you select a suitable fork. You'll probable need a 700C fork, but the headset on your bike may dictate the exact type of fork to get.
