Anyone help me with info on tyres marked with 28 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/4? I found a mention on the Sheldon Brown that those figures are the 'Northern European designation for the 622 mm (700 C) size'. I'm not sure what width the tyre is though (so am not sure what inner tubes I can use with them?), although as I can see '19c x 622' stamped on the wheel rim, am I right in thinking I can use any 700 tyre from 28 - 44 width?

Contis? Yes, they're normal 700c sized around 32mm wide.

Thanks for that. Though they're not Conti's but a Chinese make, Cheng Shin. I've no idea if they're any good or not, which is why I want to make sure I know what size to buy for replacements.

ANYTHING will be better than an old Chen Shin! I replaced a worn pair of them with a cheap pair of Michelin World Tours (£6 each from Chain Reaction) on my old three speed roadster.

What a difference.

Oh good, they're that bad are they!

They look in pretty decent condition, and I'll maybe get some use out of them this summer, but I think you've convinced me I'd be just as well replacing them with something a little better before I use them and end up with p*nctures.

Now I just need to decide what.... I might even be willing to splash out a couple of quid more than those Michelin World Tours
