tyre treads direction

I have installed a pair of marthon the "wrong" way around (i.e. the pointy end backward), would it affact the performance of the tyre?

They are made that way for the same reason car tyres are made that way. To clear the water and role smother but they will still work all the same

I don't think it'll really affect the performance but in the wet the tread (that tyre seems to have a fair bit) will throw the water forward but the wrong way round tyre will throw the water back onto your feet.

I was aware of that and I still got it worng! I even checked it a few times! how stupid am I. I dont want to spend 6hrs fixing it tmr, I will wait for a wet day and give it a try!

It makes no difference at all with water.

Bike tyres are different to car tyres because they don't aquaplane. So you might as well be on slicks unless you're in mud.

why road tyres are slicks but touring tyres have treads?
both tyres are for road though...

Will only make a difference to traction (ie driven wheels) on a motorised vehicle. If Sir Chris Hoy had to race through a flood, he might notice a drop in performance

I've just flip-flopped the rear wheel on my commute bike to use the fixed side. I didn't even consider reversing the tyre- this thread just reminded me that I hadn't.

I don't think I can be arsed. Doubt it'll make any difference.
