I don't think it'll really affect the performance but in the wet the tread (that tyre seems to have a fair bit) will throw the water forward but the wrong way round tyre will throw the water back onto your feet.

I was aware of that and I still got it worng! I even checked it a few times! how stupid am I. I dont want to spend 6hrs fixing it tmr, I will wait for a wet day and give it a try!
Will only make a difference to traction (ie driven wheels) on a motorised vehicle. If Sir Chris Hoy had to race through a flood, he might notice a drop in performance
I've just flip-flopped the rear wheel on my commute bike to use the fixed side. I didn't even consider reversing the tyre- this thread just reminded me that I hadn't.
I don't think I can be arsed. Doubt it'll make any difference.
