Tyre Sizes

Hi All, I'm fairly new to road cycling and wondered if anyone could advise me on decent tyres especially now winter is drawing nearer. I have a Viking Tre Valle road bike and the tyres it came with don't seem like they are going to last very long. Also the tyre size is 700 / 28, is it possible to use 700 / 23? sorry if this is a stupid question, hope someone can help, Thanks.:rolleyes:

Not a stupid question but it will depend on your internal rim size as to how narrow you can safely go. If you can measure your internal rim (deflate the tyre and use a vernier caliper then just re-inflate) or get your LBS to do this then you can select the range of safe tyre widths based on this measurement.
