Inflate them to the maximum tyre pressure specified on the tyre wall.

It should say on the tyre wall what the limits are of the tyre.

That may not be the best advice, my tyres state the max pressure at 140psi. I don't know anyone who would run 140psi on bumpy roads.

but if you find the ride too hard for you just reduce the pressure a little until you find what suits you best, but always try to stick to the range on the tyre wall

I'll get my coat, long time since I owned a bike and yes of coarse it is on the tyre wall
Max pressure is just that. Depending on your weight and what you want from your ride you may want to run them slightly lower than max.

I run my Tricross 25mm Bontrager race lites at 110/120 psi. This is fine for road and my commuting which includes 6 miles of trail.
