Marathon+ have a bit of a reputation for being rigid and as comfortable as a wooden cart wheel. They're meant to be a bit like that though, you don't want them to deform very much, so that the part of the tyre in contact with the road and potential punctures is the protective strip in the center and the less protected sides are kept away from the road.

Is wondering if this is the reason my conti touring plus tyres on my steel hybrid feel more uncomfortable than the higher pressure tyres on my alu roadie!

I have 38mm Marathon Plus on my hybrid and I run front and back at 80-85psi. I do lift my lardy arse out of the seat on bumpy bits though. I definitely ride faster when the tyres are pumped up to 80-85psi than not.

think i have found the sweet spot now. There was far less drag on the way in this morning.
