Any opinions on decent £20 ish lightweight racey 23' tyre?
Currently on Ultremo zx and they are cutting up badly on the rear so need something similar but tougher.....

I have the Bontrager AW1 they seem to be doing a great job. When I need to replace them I will use the same. Told they should do about 5k miles. £20ish too

I use these now. Amazing tyres. Slightly over budget, but I had them for £45 a pair earlier this year:

I've tried these and found they cut up really badly, so went back to GP4000s'

GP 4000s for the best bikes. They're worth it and I get 1500-2000 out of a rear, 2500-3000 a front. @MickeyBlueEyes must be lighter on his than I am.

Schwalbe Lugano / Rubino's for the commuter/winter bikes. 500-750 a rear and 1250-1500 a front for these. City commuting doesn't help any tyre so I might as well use basic ones.

I see you are comparing two different tires, Continental 4000 2 and Continental 4000 S so maybe the mileage could be different. I used to use Continental 4000 S 23mm and found I got 3500 miles out of a rear tyre and when I fitted a new tyre it went on the front and I then moved front to rear and I then got an additional 2000 miles out of the old front tyre before it was worn out on the rear wheel. But I found the side walls on them prone to getting ripped too easy so I changed to Maxxis Re-Fuse 23mm which are a lot cheaper and just as fast as the Conti's. I still get 3500 out of a rear but the big difference is only one puncture now in over 5000 miles. For PBP, I fitted 25mm Maxiss Re-Fuse to eliminate any time lost fixing punctures and a bit more comfort.
