Hi all,

The Wife has a Specialized Vita Hybrid with Nimbus Reflect, 700x32mm, 26TPI, Flak Jacket protection tyre's on which I think are more of a road tyre. At the minute she has only been cycling for a very short time and this is nearly always on cycle paths trails (gravel, sand and tarmac) which at the minute and during winter will be wet with mud sections on etc. Can anyone recommend any tyres that will be suited for the above and would you stay with 32mm or go wider?

Schwalbe Land Cruiser 2016 they are great off road and P resistant but roll well and can be pumped up to 80psi for road riding. I love mine come in 700c x 35mm

Thanks for the info on the above so far. So many options so I was not sure which ones to look at and she only just got back into cycling after 15 years.

The bike has these on at the minute which you can see are not for non tarmac paths like trails etc https://www.specialized.com/ca/en/components/tires-tubes/nimbus-sport-reflect/105825 as there is not much grip on them so I thought the ones on now are more for road and its why we are looking to change them for the winter

Schwalbe Marathon is a good all-round tyre. The plain one is good enough but if you need more aggressive tread, the GT 365 version is better.

Would there be any difference going from a 32mm to 35mm tyre and would a 35mm be fine on the wheels which are 700c, 6061 aluminum double-wall

I will take a look later but we do plan on fitting mudguards as well so do I need to factor this in as well with clearance.

Will the 35mm be ok on the wheel which is 700c, 6061 aluminum double-wall as I know some rims cannot take some tyre sizes

3mm will make little difference unless the clearance on your current tyres is particularly tight.

I think there is a difference. I have used 28 and 32 on my tourer and 35 on various hybrids and can tell the difference. Thinner tyres are lighter and higher pressure so generally go faster, wider tyres soak up more rough stuff. Wider tyres are surprisingly also more efficient at lower speeds because of their lower rolling resistance.
35 is pretty standard for multi-terrain use and is a good all round size. All of the medium width 700c will fit onto the rim, but with different amounts of clearance to frame/mudguards etc.

I'd be going Land Cruiser, Delta Cruiser or Marathon (not Plus) too. I'd fit the widest you can while still having plenty of clearance for a bit of mud to stick without fouling anything. I run 35s or 37s on most things, with 32s on the road bike.

^^This.

I have them fitted on my CX and they are a great all round towpath/gravel/road tyre. Also on my Trek hybrid, and my kids MTB's.

+1 for the Land Cruisers.

Got them on my hybrid (also 700C x 35) and think they're a great balance between speed on road and providing enough grip off road. Plus, they're cheap as chips.

I had previously tried the Marathons and hated them.

Well we brought the normal Land Cruisers but they sent us the Land Cruisers PLUS instead for the same price. Is that good or bad
