Tyre blow out

First real scare yesterday as suffered tyre blow out downhill going reasonably quick not sure whether I have caught something on road but made a mess of the tyre was out with son and daughter in law just about managing to keep up with them my 70 year old Evans was going really well at the time luckily other daughter at home so picked up in car spoilt my morning but glad I didn't come off the bike

Stupid really was more worried about the bike glad it wasn't on a very busy A road does this happen to modern road tyres ?

If the bike really is 70 years old it's unlikely to have hooked rims. These are much better at keeping the tyre where it ought to be.
