I have the stock wheels that came with the Triban 3 and also have a set of Shimano RS20 wheels enroute. My question is how to use the two sets to best advantage? Should I perhaps have a set for wet weather and a set for dry weather? I have a pair of Schwalbe Blizzard Sport Road Bike Tyres - 700 x 23c on order. The Triban wheels have the stock cheap Decathlon 700 x 23c tyre on.

What would you do?

I would do the hub maintenance on the old wheels described in the big Triban 3 thread then:
  1. Immediately sell them for about £40-50 or ...
  2. Ride them until they fell to bits and then replace them with the new wheels.
I'd probably go for option 1. I could go with the idea of a best bike and a bad weather bike but couldn't be bothered to change wheels every time the sun came out or it started raining! I tried the 2 sets of wheels idea on a MTB, one set with slicks for the road and one with knobblies for off-road. It was a right pain because the rims were not identical and I had to adjust the brakes after every wheel change.

If it was me, I would keep the Triban wheels as emergency/back up wheels and use the Shimano wheels. That way when you lose a spoke or get a puncture you haven't got time to repair/get repaired, you don't have to lose riding time.

As Colin said you may have to adjust the brake calipers when switching wheels. You need to have two chains, one for each set of wheels to ensure chain and cassette wear is kept to a minimum. I've found switching between my road wheel and turbo wheel that the gears don't change as smoothly as its set up for the road wheels.

Ride the original wheels in to the ground and then use the RS20's. the stock wheels may not be great but I doubt they are so bad as to be not worth using.
