Testing in professional sport! Interestingly, the SA managment are offering a 'blanket accidental' drug taking episode that might taint the whole team. Obviously, there only has to be a collection of positives for this to be verified...
The comments I read yesterday spoke of 'caffiene preparations', nasal stimulants and energy drinks that were being 'investigated' by the Team Doctor. They always seem to investigate this stuff after exposure, but 'never' before in order to keep within the regulations. At least David Gower, Ian Botham, Wade Dooley, Maurice Colclough et al could have been tested for whacky baccy or hops and fail miserably...ah the good ole days

Does this mean the whole SA team get DQ from the last match, and the result (which doesn't matter anyway) gets given to the opposition? Thought not.
Strange how only "filthy cyclists" do doping, while others "make mistakes".
What kind of team doctor fails to check out what the players are taking? A complicit one, allegedly.
It's struck me as very interesting how big the rugby players have become since the game went openly professional, lots of time for all that gym work and eating big steaks, I suppose. It couldn't be anything else!

It's possible for rugby players to get that big with normal training. When I say normal I mean using legal suppliments, nutritionists and lots of gym work. Being a full time professional allows this. It's a skills sport. As long as you have enough match fitness to use the skill which is again possible without resorting to doping.

I'm not saying they don't I'm just saying it's possible.

I remember Jamie Bloem being banned from league for steroids in the 90s. I don't think he was in the top flight and full time even. Testing is done but as we all know negative test results doesn't always mean clean athletes.
