Ahh they do look nice, and I know the chap building my wheels can do it, but what are the downsides?

The threaded ends of the spokes bend as they enter the nipples, and will break after a short period of use.

+1. Also he has used the wrong starting point for the wheel build resulting in the gap by the valve being tight rather than open. They all need moving round one spoke hole.

I understand that's called a 'crows foot' pattern. I just about manage standard 3x styles - so hats off to the fella that does these, despite my criticism of the valve.

Whoever laced that wheel was a complete dork.

Yeh,,, Look where the valve is.

Anyway. I wouldn't fancy truing out a slight bend in that rim.

The spokes are longer = heavier.

Ok not THAT pattern - i see the problems you describe there. But whoever did that and stuck it online isn't the man doing mine fortunately.

But a good job, anything wrong with that, other than slight weight increase through longer spokes?

Display purposes only I'm afraid.

We teach it 'bling' wheel lacing as part of our wheelbuilding course but it really isn't designed to be used anywhere other than a show stand.

Nope - crows foot doesn't use twisted spokes;

There would be no way I would have that on my bike. Looks like you've built a wheel out of old coat hangers.
