Dear Friends,
I am fairly new to the world of Turbo Trainers (The cold here in Ireland means that it's a necessity!) and i was wondering if any of you knowledgable people might know of a good training guide to use the trainer in conjunction with a heart monitor?
Any help would be much appreciated
Many thanks and good luck
John
Ps Why are they so bloody noisy? I have a Wireless Elite hooked up to my mountain bike which is loud enough to wake the dead.

The conti turbo specific trainer tyre reduces the buzz a fair bit.

Loads of turbo training sessions on line if you have a google. Just make sure you find that ifts what you need, no good training for power if you want to train for endurance!!

invest time in trying to make it interesting as well, like listening to music, watching dvd's etc. unless every session will be intensity training

Idiot!!

Please forgive my ignorance but could anyone explain, in simple terms, what 39x23 means? There are a few training workouts in a book that came with the Elite but to be honest i've no idea what this ratio means. Guessing gears but how is this worked out to a novice cyclist?

An example of what it is saying:
39x23 5 mins
39x19 40 mins
39x23 5 mins.

Please help. Thanks for the kind help thus far.

Most cranksets are 39/53T (large and small chainrings)
What its telling you to do is shift onto the 39T...and the corresponding gear on your rear cassette..ie 39 on the front, and the 23 on the rear.

You'll have to count the teeth on each of the rear cassettes to figure which one you want to be in.
