Right, seen 1 of these on gumtree, got my new bike, trying to get myself ready for my 24 mile weekly commute so keen to get practising. These look great, able to cycle miles in my garage! Can anyone recommend a good cheap one? I presume you don't have to remove the back wheel on these?

I bought an Elite. They were on offer for ages on Wiggle - but I'd recommend getting out on the roads this time of year.

You shouldn't have to change your back wheel - most you just have to change your QR skewer for the one provided. I don't know what bike you're riding but you will need smooth tyres. Knobblies are no good.

I had a cycle ops one which was pretty good and now have a Tacx which is also good. Ebay is your friend for these as loads of people buy one and don't get on with it (they are boring to use).

Its spring. Ride outside. Turbos are for the winter. Most people get very bored on turbos after not very long, particularly if they're just riding as opposed to doing focused training (for e.g. racing).

I prefer rollers over turbo trainers, it feels a bit more like "real" riding and helps with bike handling skills. I used to have a turbo but sold it - had to use a tyre especially for the turbo though, as I melted my normal back wheel.

I had this turbo trainer and still have these rollers which I got in a sale.
