Tidy just looking for one now. Will take what you say into account. Cheers for replyi kept looking at the sub £55 ones on e bay and Amazon and so many of them had reviews and people commented on how noisy they were , so opted for a 2nd hand Taxc one , and well impressed so far

Wahoo KickR is pretty good, my OH is on it for a couple of hours at a time and you can do strava segments on it if that's your thing. Sorry this is not constructive but I haven't had much chance to use it yet....You mention VR, maybe check out DC Rainmaker for the Wahoo KickR?
