I've got an Elite Qubo Digital, it's pretty good.... downside is that it doesn't communicate direct with TrainerRoad. Kinetic Road Machine gets very good reviews and 2014 models are incoming. You mention VR, maybe check out DC Rainmaker for the Wahoo KickR?

There are only two things certain in life: death and tacxes.

Not that I've got one. I did just get an Elite Chrono (Wiggle had them at reduced price) which is a pretty basic fluid mech one but it is very quiet. Noise was my biggest worry. But the naybores haven't come upstairs to complain yet.

i kept looking at the sub £55 ones on e bay and Amazon and so many of them had reviews and people commented on how noisy they were , so opted for a 2nd hand Taxc one , and well impressed so far

Can anyone recommend a good VR turbo, I went to the cycloshow to buy one and was very disappointed by the offerings and the attitude esp elite! Thank you

Wahoo KickR is pretty good, my OH is on it for a couple of hours at a time and you can do strava segments on it if that's your thing. Sorry this is not constructive but I haven't had much chance to use it yet....
