hi all,
just would like abit of advice. I am cycling from Salisbury city football club to st James park new castle next year, but for training when the weather is bad I would like a turbo trainer or set of rollers but which is best for long distance indoor training?

Thanks

The Glue that binds us together.
They are both boring, get some wet weather gear and some lights and ride.^_^
I have both, but i will ride through the winter as long as there is no ice.

As Derrick says both can get boring. I would go for the turbo as it is very difficult to fall off of and doesn't have the learning curve. Get a programme together, there are loads on the market then music or videos to lessen the tedium. A couple of sessions a week to work on strength and aerobic fitness. I wouldn't do mega long sessions on it, the endurance sessions are best done on the road. Get a computer with cadence and heart rate so you can record some metrics against your sessions and you should see your improvements as you go through the winter

I have just this second set up my turbo trainer and they are easy to make up, easy to get the bike on and seem great. The rollers look difficult to use as you have to keep your balance but i suppose that could be looked at as a plus

Tacx antares rollers, you can get a support that bolt on which supports you front end (take off the front wheel and clamp the forks on with the QR skewer) so you don't have to balance if you don't want to.
I may be selling my set if you are interested.
