Tubs v Clinchers

I am getting some new wheels, whats the advantages, disadvantages of tubs over clinchers, my first, last only experience was having the glue go soft on a downhill section back on a very hot day in the 80s nerve racking experience.

Tubs were a required fitment for racing back in the day when clinchers were slow and heavy and are still favoured by pros and elite riders, but a complete pain in the butt for day to day use particularly as clinchers are now fairly close in terms of performance.

@Dangermouse i have a set of tubs on my sunday best Ian May and the difference between them and the clincher type Continental ultra sports that were fitted before is massive .

Yeah, but riding a high quality tub is a great feeling. Not sure if glue technology has come on in the last 30 years (I've only just passed that age milestone) but I've never had an issue in baking hot conditions descending Alps at a decent clip.
