Tubes too long

I have 700x23c wheels, and I recently got a puncture so I took it home, took the inner tube out which was 700x23/25c(schrader), and i have bought some Kenda 700x18/23/25c(presta)and after placing it in the rim, its about 2 inches too long! I have tried slightly inflating it which reduces it, but it still wont keep in the rim, any ideas?

??? are you putting the tyre on the rim or just the tube

You need to either put the tube in the tyre and put them both on at once or put one side of the tyre on, feed the inner in, then put other side of tyre in, difficult to eplain, have a look on youtube for a vid.

Remember to check tyre and rim tape for damage/ sharps before hand

i will try the tube in the tyre, but even if i feed the inner tube in with the tyre half on, there is excess tube? or should i just pump and hope that it all fills out and that i dont get a lump

Inners are always oversize, you wouldn't be able to fit them otherwise!!

They will be the correct size, the alternatives are for 26" wheels which would be too small, not too big.

Thanks, i started from scratch using your advice, and its on! now all i have to do is pull this presta valve out enough to fit the nut over it, then hopefully i will be done :wahhey:, I had put the inner tube in the rim tight before, which meant the inner tube was too long and the wheel could not get in
