This week I have been trying to buy a syringe; to make bleeding the brakes on my mountain bike easier. I don't think I look like a heroin addict, but the way the local Chemist shop assistants look at you when you ask for a syringe makes me wonder . They disappear through to the back shop, obviously to seek advice from the boss, then return with the bad news that they don't sell them. Thing is; if I WAS a drug addict then the NHS would be throwing as many syringes at me as I wanted (via said Chemist shop)!

Went to the local vets as they must have old syringe tubes they don't want....... Wrong; they're not allowed to pass them on "for health and safety reasons".

Anybody know where I can buy a single syringe tube? Have looked on-line but they only seem to sell them by the truck load (well ok, a boxfull).

Some fist aid kits are designed for use where standards are not as high as ours, often needles and syringes are reused after a wash and sterilisation in a steam bath.... hence sterile syringes are a good thing to carry.

Thanks for the links, have now ordered a single syringe from an agricultural supplier! Think it's supposed to be used for feeding lambs or something, but hopefully will turn out to be useful for bleeding brakes.

We've got hundreds in the boot of my missuses car. She uses them and distributes them all the time and consequently, we are never without a syringe in this house. The thing is, the only time I can remember one being used in the house involved her chasing me round to give me a Tetanus shot I'd picked up from the GP for her to inject and the kids were rocking about laughing thinking I was simulating fear from the needle.

I got into bad trouble at school for filling a syringe (my dad was a doctor) with margarine and squirting it all over the collar and shoulders of the school dickhead.
