Thought I had seen most daft things on the road over the years, but todays experience while cycling was up there with the stupidest!
Making decent progress on my road bike, doing about 15/20 mph approaching a give way at a crossroads. I'm in primary, as I'm going straight ahead. I could hear a car approaching from behind, but as we were so close to the junction I presumed the driver would wait behind me. How wrong can you be! Driver of the car decides to pass me, but does not have enough space before the junction to pull back onto the correct side of the road, so just stays mostly on the wrong side! Luckily for the driver there was nobody turning into our road, so driver (trying hard not to say he/she here!) got away with it and managed to make the right turn without incident.
Now I will confess to not being the most patient person on this planet, particularly while on the road (due to the number of idiots out there winding me up), but for the sake of 2 seconds that driver put his/her safety at risk, and more to the point the safety of any person who might have been turning into that road. I hope the group of pedestrians on the corner enjoyed the show, and that they weren't offended by my outburst
. It was Saltcoats; I'm sure they've heard worse!
