Thought I had seen most daft things on the road over the years, but todays experience while cycling was up there with the stupidest!

Making decent progress on my road bike, doing about 15/20 mph approaching a give way at a crossroads. I'm in primary, as I'm going straight ahead. I could hear a car approaching from behind, but as we were so close to the junction I presumed the driver would wait behind me. How wrong can you be! Driver of the car decides to pass me, but does not have enough space before the junction to pull back onto the correct side of the road, so just stays mostly on the wrong side! Luckily for the driver there was nobody turning into our road, so driver (trying hard not to say he/she here!) got away with it and managed to make the right turn without incident.

Now I will confess to not being the most patient person on this planet, particularly while on the road (due to the number of idiots out there winding me up), but for the sake of 2 seconds that driver put his/her safety at risk, and more to the point the safety of any person who might have been turning into that road. I hope the group of pedestrians on the corner enjoyed the show, and that they weren't offended by my outburst . It was Saltcoats; I'm sure they've heard worse!

I had my daftest overtake for a while on Sunday. I was going down the B9157 at 28-30mph (according to the gps) when a large 4x4 going quite fast overtook me but giving me plenty of room. At the same time a silver saloon overtook them, and just coming over the brow of the hill coming the other way was another car

My one was this afternoon while in the car.

Queing in lane one/sliproad on the M602 into the Eccles Interchange, I got within a few car lengths of the hatchings and was stationary again, when a car transporter lorry over taking in lane two at speed decided to join the slip road at the last moment.
Only one flash on the left indicator and then swung the tractor unit straight into a car sized gap two cars ahead of me and then barged its way in on the hatchings as the traffic started to move again.

My one was this morning. I pass straight on at a crossroad 15-20mph and there is a queue in the opposite lane going the other direction.

Twit in a Corsa thought it would be ok to tailgate me (very close as I could hear his engine quite loudly), then he barges past without crossing the centre line - the queue prevents this. He then turns left after less than 10 seconds.

He intentionally intimidated me, by tailgating, to move over to the left as I normally cycle 1m from the kerb.

How to actually drive in this situation would be to stay behind me (not TAILGATE!) and turn left once I had past his junction. Time lost = ZERO.

Perhaps I shoudl will cycle even further out?

Had a guy in a spoilered and big exhausted corsa (you know the type) try to overtake on the other side of a 1.5m island cause I took primary. He had to swerve back in when he realised there was a car coming the other way.

I drive most of the time, I cycle only for pleasure so I am primarily a driver and I just can't understand this mentality.

I had a very similar one a few years ago. Driver trying to overtake me in the same lane I was in.
Difference was that I was riding a motor bike at 70mph  in lane three of the M6 southbound.

The worst one I've ever seen was on the Pickering-Whitby road (A169), a car was overtaking us coming up to the summit of one of the many hills... we were in the car doing 70 so he must have been at >100mph... Just beyond the summit there was another, much larger car.

Luckily they missed, but I've never been so close to brown trousers in my life.
