Finally got my @rse into gear and entered this (seeing as it's on my doorstep). However, can someone who's done it in the past advise me if you are free to raise money for whichever cause you see fit, or does it have to be for Action Medical Research?

Just to add, I don't have a problem with raising money for AMR, but obviously I have have my own causes also.

TIA

IIRC you have to pay £25 to enter & raise a min of £25 for AMR, beyond that its your decision; I think Magnatom collected for his own charity last year PM him.

I did indeed. In fact they knew about it and almost used that as some publicity for the even, although it didn't happen in the end.

They don't have a problem with it as long as you raise the £25 as HLaB said.

Ok thanks. I think I'll just stick to raising it for AMR, maybe the next one I do I'll pick the charity myself.

I had a job in Springburn today and drove home to Stirling via Crow Road, all I can say is OUCH! Better get serious about training now! ;)

Aye it is a fair wee hill. It's hardest at the start, and going round the corner at the viewpoint. The rest is just slog.

Don't forget the Dukes Pass as well!

Ah well, you see, I wimped out of that and signed up for the 100km version.

I've never done 100 miles and the thought of that plus Duke's Pass and Crow Road was a bit much to contemplate.

I was regretting it this morning, then after seeing Crow Road first hand I think I might have made a wise decision.

There's always next year for the 100 miler!

I entered on the day last year and paid £40 or £45 as a donation. Maybe they will allow that again this year?

There was quite a nice goodie bag at the end, i recall.

I think also that it started at 7am sharp!

The site says the start is 7am-8.30am, no problem for me as it's only a 5 minute ride to the start from my place. Already got the minimum £25 sponsorship, so apart from the required fitness level I think I'm almost there!

I was thinking of doing the Ton myself, but seeing as the start time is 7.30-8am, i'm kind of relieved that i could'nt be there at that time.

I stayed at a B&B in Stirling the night before last year. It isn't too expensive and going on last years even, well worth it.

I'm not sure I will make it this year. Training has been non-existent.

After reading your other post about your weight/thighs etc, you should be able to do a sub 6hr ride

Poor excuse! You know you really want to! Get a B&B and we can go out on the piss in Stirling the night before :tongue: Just kidding!
