My dad's asked me about a trike for my mum, she's had two knee replacements and is 5' tall with a short inside leg so my thoughts immediately went to Pashley, and sure enough you can get the their trikes with 150mm cranks for shorties. Are there any alternatives to Pashley as a manufacturer?

The other thing that would be useful, but not essential, is if it folds, they've got a big Yank camper so it'd be useful if they could take it with them.

My dad's price range is £500-700.

I had a good look around for a tricycle last winter when I was thinking it might help stop me falling off on the ice! In the end I went for Marathon Winter tyres instead. Anyway, that's by-the-by.

The suppliers I bookmarked then were:-

You need to be aware that the way trikes ride is different. There can be significant problems with adverse cambers and turns.

I would strongly advise that you try before you buy.

Those are the ones I saw on the CTC website - Mission do upright trikes, but the others have quite antiquated and difficult to use websites so a bit more investigation is needed!

I'll give my mum that advice, however I'm not sure she'll be riding it at the kind of speeds that camber would make any difference at all!

We retail lots of trikes and I would recommend a Mission but as suggested, get your mum to try a tricycle first.

Thanks that's very useful, I'd not heard of Mission before doing a bit of research so I was unsure of quality, but they seem to offer a good range. Good to get some recommendations.

I'm sure she'll try before she buys, as mentioned before, she's quite short with some minor mobility issues so it'd be essential to make sure she can use it before spending out.

As above, camber is a major pain on roads, and the mechanics of riding it are completely different from that of a bike.

I used a Kentex personally but it's not foldable so probably not so ideal for your mum.
