Triban 5 Pedals

Does anyone know which clipless pedals and cleats come as standard with the Triban 5?

I'm pretty sure the triban 5 comes with flat pedals with toe clips as standard. If you want clip less pedals then you'll need to buy them

The Triban 5 and 3 come with flat pedals with toe clips which, to be honest, are pretty bad. They don't come with clipless pedals as standard, you'd need to order them seperately.

No bikes come with clipless pedals as standard, most bikes beyond a certain price point don't even come with any pedals full stop, my best bike didn't but it wasn't an issue as I had my own to put on it.

There are so many different pedal systems available, and most experienced cyclists who ride clipless have their own preference which is why they don't come as standard.

FYI, most people start off with SPD pedals as they are dual sided so they are easier to clip into, but for road use most, (not all though), end up using SPD-R or similar IME.


[EDIT] Cross posted with TS there, so I stand corrected, but maintain I've never known this, and it's certainly not the norm with other manufacturers.

Perhaps you could tell the OP which pedal system you get with with Triban 5 PS?

I forgot to mention I have actually just bought a Triban 5! I know the pedals are manufactured by Wellgo but not sure which type and am looking at buying some cycling shoes.

How about taking some pictures and showing them here?

If they are the pedals shown on their (incredibly uninformative) website they look like the Wellgo Keo style pedals, therefore you will need 'road' shoes with 3 bolt holes - you should have the cleats supplied with the bike. If you want to use SPDs (MTB style) you wil have to change the pedals.

My son's Triban 3 came with plastic flat pedals with an open cage fitted to the front, pretty carp really. We threw them away and fitted his SPDs.

My mistake, I just remember seeing the Triban 5's in the shop with the standard plastic toe cage pedals on them.

According the the WELLGO site they are indeed LOOK 'Arc' cleats.
