Triban 3 or Triban 5 Apart from 200 quid and .4kgs is there much difference?

Just viewed both models in decathlon... I like the 5 better coz I prefer white, but I couldn't say if it's worth the extra 200. Main upgrades appear to be the sora group set and the carbon seat stays, which I would plump for if I h

Here for rides.
They are both very good value. 5 has a frame which may be more comfortable to ride over longer distances and sora is an improvement over the groupset on the 3. I know folk who have one or other and both are well pleased.

I think you mis read the OP, the diff is 0.4 kgs not 4 kgs

I thought it was a massive weight penalty . In which case theres not going to be any real difference. The dearer one may give a marginally better ride with the carbon stays but probably not worth the extra money.
I'm off to specsavers in the morning ^_^

You will need a better saddle, water bottle & cage. Gloves. Pedals, spd shoes/cleats. Puncture repair kit. Micro pump. Winter clothing.
Use the £200 on these.

The Triban 5 has Tiagra or 105, i forget which now,but the 3's Sora setup is fine. Spending £500 on a decathlon roadie doesn't make sense. The 3 is good enough for a first foray into road cycling

saddle is fine on mine, but i've gone for spd pedals & shoes. Decathalon has a £20 deal on bottle cages/inner tubes / wireless computer and pump - so thats £100 gone !

I have a T5, not sure if it is worth an extra £200 but as well as the better group set and carbon seat stays you also get clipless pedals.

defy one says that it is not worth spending £500 on a Decathlon roadie, I must disagree with this, a lot of roadies in the £500 Range from the main players are not as well equiped as a T5.

I will admit that my longest ride is about 18 miles but I have no problem with the saddle and find the whole machine well made, that said I have never rode a £1000 plus bike.

I reckon I'll be running the standard wheels over the winter and upgrade them to Mavics (possibly) when Spring comes around.
