I have a Triban 3. The front brake is broken and needs replacing. Can I do a straight swap of it for Shimano 105? the Triban has the Shimano 2200 shifters, off the top of my head. Just unscrew the old brake and attach the new one?

Might need to change the cables?

Check the drop.

Chances are, if your forks are suitable for mudguards, the drop on 105 brakes may not be long enough.

I just changed to a 105 groupset, but because of the mudguard, the drop is too long for the 105 front caliper, so I am using a Tektro front till I find a suitable replacement.

Triban 3 (in some versions at least) has almost no room for guards.

I'd get a new cable personally - life is too short to try and get an (inevitably) slightly frayed cable into another caliper.
