Looking at buying one of either Raleigh Trent Tourist, Rudge Ulster Tourist or Triumph Palm Beach does anyone know if these bikes have the 590 version of 26inch wheels or are they the 597 obsolete 26inch .
I want one with the 590 ones they make a better ride and tyres are far more available.
Had a Lenton once with 597 and it just did not have the same ride appeal to me.

My Lenton has 597 wheels soon to be replaced with 700's when I get round to it.
But not sure on your questions

The Raleigh Trent Tourist uses 597mm (26 x 1 1/4") wheels.

The Rudge Ulster Tourist uses 590mm.

According to this post the Triumph Palm Beach is a rebadged Raleigh Lenton so it would use 597mm wheels as well.

597mm tyres are still available on the web.

Thanks for the info, I did wonder if they were all rebadged Lentons with flat bars but the Ulster Tourist would be my favourite out of the 3 , I know you can still get 597 tyres but I prefer my 590 tyred 3 speeds compared to the quite narrow tyre's on my Lenton I did consider putting 590 wheels on the Lenton but it felt wrong to mess with it's originality and not sure if the brakes would have reached.

There would be no problem with the brakes reaching. There's only a 3.5mm difference between the two. I'd be extremely surprised if they didn't use the same brake callipers.

When I rebuilt my Raleigh 'City' I had the wheels rebuilt with 700c rims, had to change the brake calipers to shorter reach ones but managed to discard the twisted bits of steel that Raleigh laughingly called brakes for some nice Weinmann ones I just happened to have in my shed.

Yes you could be right about them using the same calipers , it's a small difference.
