Cycling home last Friday night my saddle came flying off due to the saddle clamp bolt shearing off, luckily I escaped injury but had to cycle several miles home standing due to having no saddle!
I took the bits back to Cycle Surgery (where I bought the bike) expecting them to simply replace the bolt, but no, they said they didn't have any spare bolts and just told me to try a hardware store! I have since tried several bike shops and a couple of hardware stores to no avail.
Googling 'saddle clamp bolts' today took me to the Trek US website where it states that a recall is in place for several models (27,000 bikes) due to the exact same problem. Why has Trek not put in place the same recall here as for the USA & Canada, and Trek stockists never heard of this?
I will now be returning to Cycle Surgery tomorrow to insist that the part is replaced by Trek.
