Hi all,

My Trek which is just over a year old has developed a creak and on inspection the bearing has grit inside - I assume so as it is grinding now the crank is off. What model of bearing do I need to replace it with? I cannot find a parts diagram anywhere.

Hoping to remove the bearing tonight when the rocket tool arrives.

Thanks

Alan

It looks like it is a PF92 bottom bracket, so press-fit bearings that will need to be pulled out and pressed in. Googling PF92 will show you various options, but please verify before ordering!

$150 bottom bracket? You might aswell just drop a standard BB back in for £15-20 and swap it when it wears. It's only a 20 minute job.

Cleaned it all up, bearing were smooth running so I put it back together but still have a creaking sound when under load. Most of noise on the video was grit between the bearing and the plastic cover. New bearing will be on order!

thanks for all the replies.

Thanks, just tried greasing the pedals threads and it might have silenced the creak. I won’t find out until the weekend as it is so windy tonight that it is hard to hear anything else!
