Hi everyone

Just had confirmation from Trek that they are providing me with a warrantry replacement for my 2011 4.7 madone frame. They will provide a 2013 4.7 frame in blue/white which is fine, but for gbp 1000 they will swap for a madone 5.9 2013. This frame looks great with the new style tubing, integrated brakes and all cabling. Just cant decide if its worth a 1000 for this? I ride 100 plus miles per week and the Trek Madone 4.7 has been great. So do I take the 4.7 and upgrade my bike in a year or two, or take the 5.9 now at a cost then upgrade wheels/saddle/bars in due course?? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

£1000 buys a lot of upgrades. And the 5 frame is going to be a (very, very) marginal gain over the 4. Save your dosh and stick with the 4.

I think the 5 series is a couple of hundred grams lighter (2013 vs 2013). Would they do you a 2014 4 series frame? That gets you KVF tubing, internal cable routing, the chain catcher, etc, but without the seat mast or direct mount bonty brakes. Not sure what the new weights are.
