I *accidentally* went into a bike shop the other day and casually asked about road bikes, as I'd like to swap my hybrid for a road bike.

I was shown this http://www.bikeshak....lexa-s-compact/

I thought it looked and felt beautiful, but of course I know naff-all about these things really. I can't find any reviews of it online (presumably because it's this year's bike and too new).

Does the spec sound good? Are Lexa bikes generally a good buy for the money? I guess I'm prepared (in the nearish future) to spend around this amount, but I certainly can't go about £800, and that's if I do it at all... which financially I probably shouldn't....

Cheers

Sora shifters on a £700 bike? I'm sure someone could put me right and the bits I don't know are great but in my limited knowledge this looks like the spec of a £500 bike.

Lexa are women specific treks.

Generally ( if i am right ) they have a slighter shorter top tube and have a saddle designed for the female anatomy. They also have a slightly higher head tube.

£700 is about right for a new trek of that spec, i was looking at a 1.2 that basically is the same spec and it was the same price.

I did a quick look for a 2010 model and could not see one, you could probably pick up a sora equipped bike for less if you can ride non female specific geometries.

My Defy cost £600, and 'only. has 2300!!! (one less than Sora)

Looks aright for the money, but always be ready for a haggle
