Apologies if this has been covered on a previous thread; looking at upgrading from my two for the price of one grade MTB and just curious as to people's thoughts on the Trek or other useful suggestions. Basically myself and Ms Camgreen are social cyclists, up to 100 mile rides and also take in a few Bike Events; so want something decent, reliable, with a bit of pace when we need it.

Camgreen,

I don't have one, although I was looking at the FX range before i saw the light and bought a road bike. They seem great all round fitness/leisure/commuter bikes and are very comfortable to ride. The best bet is to take one out for a test ride and see how it feels.

I would also recommend trying out the Specialized Sirrus and similar offerings from Giant as they are all slightly different in terms of ride and geometry and you may well prefer one more than the other. I was originally looking at them as i thought road bikes would be too weak and i may want to do some light off road stuff... in reality this was never going to happen and they are stronger than you expect so I bought a Specialized Allez.

I am sure someone will be along shortly to say get a road bike or an audax bike... by all means take their advice there are some very experienced and sensible people on here (and er some not so much), but get whatever makes you feel comfortable and whatever makes you happy, that way you will ride it more.
