I have a decent Trek 4700 that I bought for £200 a few years ago.
I am generally quite happy with it and it has served me well and done many off-road rides.
However, the rims are very rapidly approacing their wear limit (V-brakes).
So what is my best option?
1) Get some new / used rims and have the wheels rebuilt?
2) Buy some new / used V-brake wheels
3) Buy some new / used disk brake wheels and associated hardware. If I go this route will I need new levers and cables or can I adapt the old ones?
4) Cut my losses and sell the bike "as is" and buy another used one. If I take this option the V-brakes or disk brakes?
Disk brakes are better as they work when muddy and do not wear the rims, but are they not quite a bit heavier?
