Good bike, spent some time looking at one a month or so ago. My dilemma then was whether to pay more for the 2.5 but both shops i went to said it was a great bike. Excellent frame (lifetime with a trek) and 105 components.

At that price its almost down to the 2.1 and i thought the 2.3 was by far the better bike. Will do what you want quite easily

Or you could get a Focus Cayo for less than 1K. Carbon from and 105.
Part of the cost with a trek is the name.. You can definitely get better deals out there.

Thanks for that but it am more or less 'there' re my choice. Spesh Allez/Sectuer, Cube Peloton or the Trek.

Been a bit of a journey to get to this point tbh as I have been massively underwhelmed by my purchasing experience to date and have been 'ground down' to an extent and I now just want to get on a bike.

I am hoping that out of these 4 bikes I will find a suitable steed!

I have the 2.1 compact -excellent bike for the winter as it takes mudguards. I think the 2.3 is the same with better kit, but looking at the current Trek site it looks like the 2.3 also has 105.....
