Hi,
I am about to buy my first road bike after riding all sorts of bikes, and more recently a Ridgeback Tempest - loaded up with panniers (shopping, day rides etc.) I have narrowed the choice down to The Trek 1.5T or the Giant 2.5 Defy - and I like the Trek, but I'm not sure about the spoke pattern on the wheels. I'm 105kg (but getting lighter at last) and although my LBS says no problem, I'd appreciate a second or third opinion.
Is the Trek strong enough? But then the Giant has Kenda tyres and I've heard poor things about them! The Trek has Contis - as has my Ridgeback - and they have been fine.
Can anybody advise?
