So i want to get into road cycling and i have never ridden a road bike before but i was wondering if the 2013 1.2 is a good choice? I can't choose between Cannondales, Specialized etc because my LBS dont have them here, it's basically just Scott and Trek here but the cheapest Aluminium Scott is like 200€ more expensive (Speedster 20). Sure it has Tiagras over the Soras but if im just a beginner this shouldn't matter too much? I can't get the 1.5 because my LBS don't have them in stock and i need to get one fast because im leaving in 3 days and i have to get a road bike in that time.

yeah they are okay for the money but you will quickly want something better and the frame isn't that great so not much point upgrading components on it - really depends on your budget as well.

What's wrong with the frame? I heard it got an upgrade in 2013 so it's not just a round pipe anymore it has some other shape now so it's supposedly more aerodynamic or something. It's Alpha Aluminum whatever that means-

Nothing wrong with that bike, a perfectly good bike and components for what you want. If you like it and feels right ittl do just the job. If you start to enjoy riding it and cycling in general, overtime you may want to get a bike with a different lighter frame and more expensive and supposedly better components, but don't worry about that now, just enjoy the ride.

The trek is a perfectcly good frame fitted with reasonable components at a fair price.

It may not be the sexiest bike in the world, but it's a damned good workhorse, and you will have to pay substantially more to get a better bike. I've got the precursor (1200), and 7 years on it's now my winter commuter and still providing sterling service.

Picked it up yesterday, i love it. one question tho... i switched to the bigger front gear and now i dont know how to get it back to the smaller one... It's a Shimano Sora... i tried every shifter button but it won't go to the lower front gear if that's what you call it... well there are only 2 in the front... the rear ones work perfectly. Im not sure what i am doing wrong? Im pretty sure it's a ''compact crank'' but i guess that doesn't matter at all.

Yup absolutely fine. I have the specialized equivalent from a few years back and still love it. I only stopped riding it coz I wanted to try a CX bike. The ride is harsh but I've ridden 17000 miles without problems.

Surprised you went for that bike, its not banana coloured:whistle:;)

Left hand inner lever should just flip in to centre of bike and release. It should just drop down while pedalling forward.
If not, it needs setting up properly, which should have been done by the shop.

Yeah something is wrong then, the left inner lever isn't doing anything, i hear the clicking noise but nothing happens. The outer lever won't do anything either.

Flick it harder till it changes the front doesn't change like the rear. Its a good decent bike tbh. I would ride one but its a trek. Sounds weird for me

On my bike which is a triple, the front mech shifter has to be pushed over to the right by a long way. It has quite a lot of travel. I am sure you won't break it by the way.
