guys wondering if you could help and direct me to web sites that supply stuff to protect your mountain bikes in transit.

I can get 2 mountain bike frames into the boot of my car,by removing the wheels and placing the wheels in wheel bags
but would like to protect the forks and wedge some sort of device between the brake pads to keep the pistons from closing.
just wondered what other people do

any suggestion, any help appreciated

Pop into your LBS and ask for some brake capliper spacers. Chances are you might get a few for free.

I use an old sleeping bag to through over one bike before putting the next one in and always top and tail them.

Hope this helps.

I use foam for going between the bikes and protecting the important bits, this lot were very helpful. http://foamshop.co.uk/custom-cut-foam

I don't bother with the brakes, I find they very rarely close up in transit, but if you want to use something, then a bit of card wrapped in insulation tape will do the job very cheaply.

Brakes have never been a problem with our 3 bikes dismantled in the Passat estate. If they get squeezed it's easy enough to push the pads back again by inserting a screwdriver blade and twisting. Just use padding between the bikes; an old blanket is ideal.

thanks for the replies guys , I like the idea of putting foam or an old blanket between bikes,I thought a dust sheet was enough, but better with more protect than having a problem later.

Good to know the brakes are not a problem in transit, will make up a couple of boards for placing between pads, wont do any harm

thanks for getting back to me
