Sounds a bit of a bummer.

That happened to me but only 2 miles from home so it wasn't too far to walk.

Now, I carry a spare tube with me!

Although the trail is pretty remote there are a few cycle shops dotted along it and i'm sure that if you stopped enough riders someone would have sold you / given you a spare tube.

I can fix a puncture, as long as I can find it.

Happy to report I found the second puncture back at home today, fixed it up and chucked on the 90mm stem for good measure, and had a blast along the trail and back along the Bridgewater Canal - a very wet and muddy affair with a few slightly hairy moments soaked up by the confident frame of the Marin and the grippy WTB tires. Also great mud clearance.

Did about 18 miles which is ok for me in shoot weather.

Cheers

Lovely ride this afternoon totally spoiled by a puncture I was unable to fix.

Cost me £16 in a taxi to get home.

Pity I wasn't doing my stint as Volunteer Ranger on that day! I went off my patch the other week to go to Lavender Barn near Dunham, parked the bike outside and when I got back there was a great piece of grit which had caused a puncture. Fortunately a cycling friend who was in her car drove to Heatley bike shop just near the trail and they fixed the tube. I'd have been a bit stuck, as although I'd got a spare tube, it was one off a road bike - which was no good when we tried it.

By the way, I picked some Sloes near Birchwood park the other day and am going to make some Sloe gin tomorrow. You might still be able to find them.!
